Campsie is a suburb where you can find an abundance of asian restaurants, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese.. you name it. The sheer amount of cake stores, supermarkets and general homewares is sheer astounding.
Manmaruya is an authentic Japanese restaurant, boasting its Ramen as their signature dish – of course, I didn’t have it cause it was too hot. Way to go Alice. Didn’t think to pick the cold soba either.
Nevertheless, I was quite impressed with the amount inside this bento box I ordered. Stir fried pork had a good balance between meat and fattiness. It was juicy and the proportion was huge!
The salmon belly was also tender and soft – superb sashimi.
Gyoza had a flavoursome filling – though I’m not a fan of deep fried gyoza. The pastry was a tad too oily but that was balanced out if had the salad and seaweed.
Great dish for $16
I can’t go past aburi sushi. Delectably squishy and melt-in-your-mouth salmon, tuna, kingfish and scallops.
