Macquarie Centre – Passiontree Velvet

The instagram frenzy has been strong at Passiontree, shots of eclairs, cakes and hightea just had me bouncing to try all their cakes. Eventually I will.

The shop is located in the Fresh Food Section, you won’t miss it. Not with those Tiffany blue boxes staring out at you.

The Rocks Eclairs are definitely the best ones. It has different textural elements, crunch from the cookie, smoothness from the ganache, and delicate sponge pistachio cake crumbs all in one.

Some of the macarons at Passiontree are gluten free and to my absolute delight has a crispy shell with a chewy filling. Both the jasmine & mocha macarons had good depth of flavour.

Pistachio & Berry Eclair 

I felt the Pistachio eclair was quite rich and heavy as the ganache on top is made from white chocolate and the cream inside was thick.

Banana cake- Oh my goodness. This cake was soft, fluffy, delicate and super light. Despite the lack of banana flavour, the textures were out of this world.

Baked Avocado with Salmon & Egg, served with bread 

These were incredibly delicious little things! Chilli flakes were added just enough to get a little punch out, the salmon was smoky and sweet and the dill just added a little burst of freshness.
